Overview
Portfolio Version 1 reflects my initial venture into web portfolios, drawing inspiration from classic business cards. I aimed to harmonize modern digital design with timeless simplicity, addressing the user's preference for straightforward, efficient access to information. My primary objective was a design that emphasizes simplicity and responsiveness, surpassing dark themes and jQuery plugins to ensure effortless user engagement.
Design Process
I prefer to begin with a sketch, whether it's on my iPad or in a notebook. During this phase, I aim to limit the number of colors to three, striving for a simple and functional aesthetic. To enhance the resemblance to physical postcards or business cards, I've added a frame to the top left and bottom right corners.
I've developed a dark theme to evaluate its appearance. As illustrated below, I contemplated two options for the navigation bar: a single expanded line and a corner frame. In the end, I chose the expanded line to achieve a more physical card-like appearance.
Conclusion
In closing, Portfolio Version 1 marks my inaugural step into the realm of web portfolios. As my first portfolio, its primary aim was to deliver a straightforward and user-friendly design, prioritizing efficient navigation and accessibility. This project served as a fulfilling achievement, allowing me to bring my design concepts to life, from the hamburger menu to the dark theme and responsiveness. Looking ahead to future projects, I'm eager to explore more advanced interactivity. Portfolio Version 1 lays the foundation for my ongoing journey.
